Mini Marvels - Omega

Michael Pointer was an Alaskan postman who may have never known of his latent mutant powers had he not been possessed by the Collective, a sentient mass of energy created from the lost powers of all the mutants who had been depowered by the Scarlet Witch on M-Day. Unable to control the power, Pointer killed many members of Canada's Alpha Flight before eventually being taken down by the Avengers, who managed to drain Pointer of most of the Collective's energy. Pointer still possessed a good deal of residual energy however, and he was taken in by the Canadian government.
Pointer tried to make amends by joining Omega Flight, a team formed by surviving Alpha Flight veteran Sasquatch. His scientist handlers decided the best way to regulate the remnants of the Collective's power was to use the suit worn by the former leader of Alpha Flight. Though he felt unworthy of the title, Pointer had no choice but to briefly serve as the new Guardian. Eventually the suit was remodelled to better suit it's new purpose however, and Pointer took on the new identity of Weapon Omega. Despite proving himself a hero, Pointer continued to be manipulated by some members of the government. He was eventually recruited into Norman Osborn's team of 'X-Men', where he his powers were experimented with by the Dark Beast. During his time with this team he befriended Mimic, and the two decided to stick together after Osborn's reign fell apart and continue their search for redemption.
